The President of Zanzibar, Tanzania, Awards Medals to the First Batch of Experts of the Chinese Aided Schistosomiasis Prevention and Control Project in Zanzibar

On the 26th, Mwinyi, President of Zanzibar, Tanzania, received the first batch of experts of the second phase of the Chinese Aided Schistosomiasis Prevention and Control Project in Zanzibar at the Zanzibar Presidential Palace, and awarded medals and commemorative certificates to all team members to recognize their contributions to Zanzibars medical and health undertakings. At the award ceremony, Mwinyi thanked the Chinese side for its selfless assistance to Zanzibar in the medical and public health fields over the years, and thanked the expert team for providing treatment services to local people and training professional and technical personnel for schistosomiasis prevention and control, helping to improve Zanzibars disease prevention and control system. He expressed the expectation that the prevention and control project will further deepen the friendship between the two countries and expand cooperation in the public health field. Zhang Ming, Acting Consul General of China in Zanzibar, stated that the Chinese side implements the concept of building a Global Community of Health for All and continuously strengthens cooperation with Zanzibar in the public health field. As a typical representative of foreign aid in public health, the prevention and control project has established a schistosomiasis prevention and control system and a long-term working mechanism suitable for Zanzibar and even other African countries, helping Zanzibar improve its public health service level. Huang Yuzheng, leader of the first batch of experts of the second phase of the Chinese Aided Schistosomiasis Prevention and Control Project in Zanzibar and researcher from Jiangsu Institute of Schistosomiasis Prevention and Control, expressed the expectation that strong support from the Zanzibar side will continue to be obtained in the subsequent project implementation, and through the joint efforts of both sides, help Zanzibar eliminate schistosomiasis.
