The Training Course on Tropical Disease Pathogen Detection Technology in Southeast Asia was successfully held at the Lecheng Clinical Base of Hainan Tropical Disease Research Center on November 17, presided over by Director Zhou Xiaonong. This training, funded by the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association and jointly organized with the World Health Organization Western Pacific Regional Office, gathered more than 30 trainees from Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Mongolia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Australia and other countries in Hainan for a one-week training program. The training focused on detection technologies for tropical disease pathogens such as dengue fever, malaria, schistosomiasis, and filariasis. Tropical disease experts from China and Australia jointly gave lectures and provided hands-on experimental operation guidance in the laboratory of Hainan Tropical Disease Research Center. The experts explained theoretical knowledge in detail and demonstrated the precise detection operation procedures. The trainees actively carried out practical operations and enthusiastically discussed prevention and control experiences and challenges in different countries. Key points of dengue virus detection, core elements of malaria diagnosis, diagnostic details of schistosomiasis, as well as filariasis diagnosis and mosquito vector monitoring technologies were all discussed and studied in depth. Through this all-round and multi-level training and exchange, the professional skills of the trainees in tropical disease detection and prevention and control have been significantly improved, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent response to tropical disease threats and the development of tropical disease prevention and control cooperation in Central Asian countries.
