Xinhua News Agency, Cairo, November 26 (Khartoum correspondent): The Sudanese Ministry of Health issued a statement on the 26th, saying that the new round of cholera outbreak in the country since July this year has killed 1,180 people. The statement said that the latest cholera epidemiological situation report shows that Sudan has added 253 new cholera infection cases in the past three days, including 1 death case; as of the 26th, the cumulative number of infection cases across the country has reached 42,725, including 1,180 death cases, involving 81 regions in 11 states. The Sudanese Ministry of Health has intervened through measures such as environmental disinfection and the activation of isolation centers, but more medicines and medical support are still needed. The statement also said that the dengue fever epidemic in Sudan has been effectively controlled, with 15 new confirmed cases added in the past three days and no new death cases; as of the 26th, the cumulative number of infection cases in 8 states across the country has reached 7,250, including 15 death cases. In April 2023, the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces of Sudan broke out armed conflicts in the capital Khartoum, and the war later spread to other regions. The ongoing conflict and the severe humanitarian situation it caused, as well as the floods caused by seasonal heavy rains, have led to the large-scale spread of infectious diseases such as cholera and dengue fever in Sudan.
