Commemoration of World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day 2025

On the occasion of World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day 2025, the World Health Organization (WHO) and global partners call on everyone to unite and take action to eliminate neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). Dr. Ibrahima Socé Fall, Director of the WHO Global Neglected Tropical Diseases Programme, said: "On World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day 2025, we urge all parties to take unified action to eliminate neglected tropical diseases, strengthen health systems, and empower communities to achieve sustainable solutions." This years publicity campaign emphasizes that the fight against neglected tropical diseases can not only reduce the burden of these diseases, but also promote the strengthening of health systems; through the "One Health" approach that integrates human, animal and environmental health, the impact of climate change on neglected tropical diseases can be addressed; at the same time, empowering individuals and communities will promote people-centered, locally adapted, inclusive and effective programs, and provide sustainable and effective solutions to meet challenges. WHO and the global neglected tropical diseases community call on all stakeholders: increase investment to fill funding gaps; enhance political will to sustain progress and protect millions of people at risk; strengthen data systems to better plan, allocate resources and respond to emerging problems; accelerate research and development to develop new tools and integrate them into routine health care; strengthen community participation, with a focus on gender equality, equity and youth engagement, through local leadership, health worker support and grassroots advocacy.
