The World Health Organization and the Anesvad Foundation signed a two-year cooperation agreement with a total amount of 1.4 million euros, aiming to support the prevention and control of skin-related neglected tropical diseases in multiple countries in sub-Saharan Africa. This agreement is a continuation of the nearly 1 million euro cooperation agreement signed by the two parties from 2019 to 2024. The core objectives of the new agreement include: (1) Consolidate the achievements of previous cooperation; (2) Promote the achievement of the established targets in the Global Roadmap — that is, promote at least 40 countries to formulate and implement comprehensive prevention and control strategies for skin-related neglected tropical diseases by 2030. The project focuses on three strategic areas: strengthening the global coordination mechanism — enhancing the WHOs leadership in promoting the prevention and control paradigm for skin-related NTDs; ensuring the procurement of health commodities — providing targeted support for the supply of project materials in key countries; evidence-based decision-making support system — carrying out implementation research to improve the disease surveillance and effect evaluation network. The project implementation will adopt a three-level linkage mechanism: through the vertical collaboration among WHO Headquarters, the African Regional Office and the target country offices, closely cooperate with the health planning departments of relevant countries to build a multi-level implementation framework.
