The School of Global Health invited Professor Banchob Sripa, Director of the Tropical Disease Research Center, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, Thailand, to give the 27th lecture of the Shanghai Global Vision Forum on March 11. The theme was "Liver Fluke and Cancer: New Insights into Host-Parasite Interactions and Disease Pathogenesis". The lecture focused on host-parasite interactions and pathological mechanisms in liver fluke infection, covering the biological characteristics of liver flukes and their impact on public health. Professor Sripa elaborated in detail on the relationship between liver fluke infection, inflammation and cancer, explored how the host immune system recognizes liver flukes and how the parasite evades the immune response, leading to liver inflammation, fibrosis and biliary tract diseases, and also shared the latest progress in pathological research. The lecture attracted many experts and scholars to participate, and everyone actively exchanged and discussed in depth, jointly promoting the research, prevention and control of liver fluke infection and its related diseases.
