On April 23, on the eve of World Malaria Day, the Mbalmayo Branch of the 24th Chinese (Shanxi) Medical Aid Team to Cameroon, in conjunction with Mbalmayo Hospital, carried out malaria prevention and control publicity and education and medicine donation activities with the theme "Jointly Fighting Malaria Without Borders, China and Africa Working Together to Protect Health". Ren Qinglan, leader of the Mbalmayo Branch of the Chinese Medical Aid Team to Cameroon, introduced that the activities were carried out in the form of "one class, one short play, and a batch of mosquito nets", with more than 60 participants including hospital medical staff and the public. First, Zhang Yongqiang, a laboratory doctor from the medical team, conducted a training class on early malaria detection. Then, a self-made animated short play by the medical team was played to explain the transmission mechanism and key points of malaria prevention and control. Finally, medical team members, together with local medical staff and patients families, set up mosquito nets in the wards. During the activities, the medical team also distributed anti-malaria materials such as artemisinin to local people. Assamba Emane, Assistant Director of Mbalmayo Hospital, said: "This publicity and education campaign not only conveys malaria prevention and control knowledge but also builds a bridge for medical exchange between Africa and China." Ren Qinglan stated that she hopes innovative science popularization forms and professional technical explanations can help local people effectively prevent and control malaria, and the medical team will continue to work hard to interpret the spirit of "fearing no hardship, being willing to contribute, healing the wounded and rescuing the dying, and boundless love".
