Jointly building a Health Silk Road, sharing prevention and control wisdom - the China-Africa Tropical Disease Prevention and Control Technical Exchange Conference successfully concluded in Changsha

To thoroughly implement the concept of "building a Global Community of Health for All" and further strengthen cooperation and exchanges between China and African countries in the field of tropical disease prevention and control, the "China-Africa Tropical Disease Prevention and Control Technical Exchange Conference", jointly hosted by the Health Commission of Hunan Province, Hunan Administration of Disease Control and Prevention, and the National Institute of Parasitic Diseases, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (National Center for Tropical Diseases Research), and undertaken by Hunan Institute of Schistosomiasis Prevention and Control (WHO Collaborating Center for Schistosomiasis Prevention and Control in Lake Regions) and Hunan Center for Disease Control and Prevention, was successfully held in Changsha, Hunan Province from June 12 to 13. Shen Hongbing, Vice Minister of the National Health Commission and Director of the National Administration of Disease Control and Prevention, Douglas Mombeshora, Minister of the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare of Zimbabwe, and Wang Junshou, Vice Governor of the Peoples Government of Hunan Province, attended the conference and delivered speeches. During the conference, representatives from China, multiple African countries and international organizations jointly launched the China-Africa Joint Prevention and Control Initiative for Tropical Diseases, marking that the cooperation between China and Africa in the field of tropical disease prevention and control has entered a new stage. The National Institute of Parasitic Diseases, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Neglected Tropical Diseases Program Office of Sierra Leone, as well as Hunan Institute of Schistosomiasis Prevention and Control and the National Health Institute of Zimbabwe, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Schistosomiasis Prevention and Control Cooperation; at the same time, the National Institute of Parasitic Diseases, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Malaria Program Office of Senegal, Henan Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Malaria Program Office of Zambia, as well as Hunan Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Health Institute of Zimbabwe, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Malaria Prevention and Control Cooperation. The successful holding of this exchange conference not only built an important platform for China-Africa cooperation in the field of tropical disease prevention and control, but also injected new impetus into the global tropical disease prevention and control cause.
